Truwit Runner-Up at FAA Tournament

Daniel Clarke
St. Luke’s Boys Varsity Tennis star Jack Truwit ‘20 finished as runner-up in the 2019 FAA Tennis Tournament on Tuesday, May 14.

Traditionally, the tournament is played over two days, due to inclement weather the teams played a reduced draw over one day at Sound Shore Indoor Tennis in Port Chester, NY.

Truwit received a first-round bye before a comfortable victory against Connor McDonald from Greens Farms Academy in the quarterfinal. Jack then produced an outstanding display in the semifinal to make short work of Brunswick School’s number one seed Ben Powis.

That set up a final matchup against Evan Lee of Brunswick. The Bruins number two was in exceptional form to claim to the title with an 8-2 victory.

Elsewhere for the Storm, James Adamini ‘20 and Adam Rizvi ‘21 lost in the first round of the doubles tournament against Siraj Patwa & Ben Goldstein from Hopkins School.

Zach Amendola ‘21 and Max Lehnert ‘19 won their first match against George Chang & Brody Leo from Masters but then lost to Nick Simonsen & Albert Bostoen from Greens Farms Academy in the second round.

Teddy Truwit ‘22 won his first round against Jackson Freiman from Masters, only dropping a single point in the entire match, before losing to the eventual champion Lee in the second round.
