Thespies Ceremony Celebrates St. Luke’s Theatre

On May 20, the Forese Family Fireplace Commons buzzed with excitement during the annual Thespian Awards (“The Thespies”) to honor the theatrical and technical accomplishments of the 2018-2019 school year.

Jason Peck, Director of Theatre Arts, addressed all the students, families, and faculty gathered: “All good theatre is enveloped around the premise that we are driven by goals, but it is the overcoming of obstacles where the drama is created. Indeed, it is the brushing yourself off and carrying on despite the difficult road ahead that creates heroes. We celebrate, applaud, and are excited by watching someone fight through the challenges in drama, and if I could think of a single theme around this season it would be around this very thing: ‘resilience.’”

After a video retrospective of the year in performances, Peck announced the winners of this year’s Thespies. The 2018-2019 Thespian Award recipients include:

After awards were announced, Peck shared a video showing the 14 Halo Awards and Sondheim Awards nominations St. Luke’s received this year. These are considered the Tony Awards for high school theatre in Connecticut.
