St. Luke's Freshmen Shine for Luke's Cross Country

Daniel Clarke
On Wednesday, September 18, Brian Gall ‘23 and Danny Gall ‘23 finished sixth and 10th, respectively, for the St. Luke’s Cross Country team in the first FAA race of the year.

Brian recorded an excellent time of 17:19.3 over the 5k course at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport. Twin brother Danny was just seconds behind, with a time of 17:55.7.

The Storm runners were the two fastest freshmen in a field of 114 boys, with senior Jamie Ullman finishing next for St. Luke’s, in 41st place, with a time of 19:43.2.

Head Coach Corliss Spencer was impressed with the Galls: “ Brian and Danny’s mile splits were 5:32 and 5:33, respectively.  Comparing that with their final pace per mile times of 5:34 and 5:46 reveals just how great these results are.”

In the Girls' race, Phoebe Kurth ‘20 recorded a time of 22:46.4 to finish 25th overall in a field of 81. Marguerite DeMarco ‘21 finished second for the Storm, with a time of 25:46.9.

The team’s next FAA race is Wednesday, October 2, at SUNY Purchase College starting at 4:30pm.
