Storm Prepare For NEPSAC Tournament

Daniel Clarke
Three St. Luke’s sports teams qualified for their respective New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) postseason tournaments this fall.

Varsity Volleyball was given the number five seed in Class C and traveled to number four seed Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass. on Wednesday, November 13. Despite all three sets being close the Storm fell to a strong Penguins team at the quarterfinal stage.

Boys Varsity Soccer was handed the number six seed and visited St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, R.I., on Wednesday, November 13, for its Class C quarterfinal. The Storm went 1-0 up in the first half but unfortunately conceded two goals in three minutes at the start of the second to a talented St. Andrew's team.

Girls Varsity Soccer was given the number three seed and hosted Ethel Walker School at 2pm on Wednesday, November 13. The Storm finished its season with an overall record of 12-3-1, winning the FAA tournament title on Friday, November 8, after beating Greenwich Academy 2-1 in the Championship game. GVS  controlled the game from start to finish winning 4-0 to advance to the semifinal. The team will face number 2 seed Berwick Academy, ME, on Saturday, November 16 at St. Mark's School, MA. The winner will advance to the Championship game on Sunday, November 18 at Deerfield Academy.
