From St. Luke’s Art Department:

St. Luke’s Class of 2019 Art Gallery is currently showing the She Kills Monsters Exhibition, which celebrates the technical, behind-the-scenes work of our Middle School fall play of the same name.

No production can truly come to life without the hard work of individuals who give their loving care and full attention to the details, both small and large. The She Kills Monsters Exhibition is intended to shine a light on that work.

The exhibition consists of amazing costumes designed by Susan Sarrazin, weaponry masterminded by Kirstie Tobler, dragon heads sculpted by our beloved retired art teacher Peggy van Acker, a delightful poster designed by Haley Wulfman, and photographs of the performances by Valerie Parker and Desiree Smock. The photographs captured the stunning lighting design by John Connors, the brilliant work by scenic artist Jinjing Lai, the perfect coordination of a multitude of technical aspects by Kate Parker-Burgard and Ty Wieland, and the excellent performances by the cast elicited and nurtured by Director Leo Mahler and Assistant Director Elaine Juran. Sadly, the only component missing from the exhibition is the sound design by Joshua Schneider. However, if you were fortunate enough to attend one of the performances, you know that both the ambient and dramatic soundscapes created the perfect emotional experience for the audience.

Bringing a play to life takes a great deal of artistry, both conceptual and physical in nature, as well as passion, determination, and collaboration, including among our student crew and actors. We hope you have the opportunity to view the exhibition and witness for yourself the amazing work created by the dedicated and gifted members of the St. Luke’s community. For more information, please view the text on the wall of the gallery.

The She Kills Monsters Exhibition will be on display in the Class of 2019 Art Gallery in the Jensen Family Humanities Wing until February 23.
