Finance and Entrepreneurship Students Visit Local Business

V. Parker
St. Luke's Finance and Entrepreneurship class went to nearby Wilton to learn firsthand from a local business owner. Students in the Leadership Studies elective and their teacher Meredith MacLeod met with Susan Schmitt, the owner of The Painted Cookie. Schmitt talked about how she went about opening her nut-free bakery.

MacLeod said, “She answered all our questions, including about how she started her business in her own kitchen and has since expanded into a storefront and beyond. It was a great opportunity for my students to learn through a business owner’s ‘real world’ experiences.”

Center for Leadership Director Kate Parker-Burgard added, “Our Leadership Studies classes offer opportunities for Upper School students to learn about leadership from a variety of perspectives so that they can be empathetic, engaged people who move forward with an ethical vision.”
