SLS PA: Great Last Quarter on the Hilltop

SS
The SLS Parents' Association had a great finish to the 2019-20 academic year despite the changes to our normal everyday routine.  Today, we successfully finished celebrating our faculty and staff, by distributing 155 gift cards expressing our gratitude for all that they have done on behalf of all our students this year.  Thank you to all of you, our parents, for your generosity in contributing to the FSA "Thank You" gift cards.

Even though we have not been on campus in over three months, the PA quickly adjusted the calendar and converted many of our events to online.  During both April and May, we hosted Virtual Brown Bag lunches.  We had over 45 adults join us for a conversation with Camille DeMarco Havens and Dr. Ron Raymond on how to navigate through these COVID 19 times with your child.  It was a wonderful conversation that allowed parents to share their concerns as well as hear from others how they are assisting their children in navigating these uncertain times. The PA was very excited to try something new this year. We partnered with the Student Government to setup "Virtual Playdates" between SLS students and faculty children. During these kid friendly playdates, SLS students shared a little bit of their day with faculty children reading stories, playing games, and doing crafts virtually. The PA was so thrilled to help arrange this special time between our students and our faculty and hope it will resurface at some point in the future.

To close out the school year, the PA hosted its first "Parent-Faculty Trivia Night".  It was great fun as four teams competed in four rounds of trivia to earn bragging rights for the year to come.  Finally, we wrapped up the SLS academic year by hosting over 60 parents on a ZOOM call for our Annual PA Appreciation Breakfast.

Thank you to all of you for helping to make 2019-20 a great year on the Hilltop!  We hope everyone has a relaxing and restful summer
