SLS Theater Wins Halo Awards For 5th Straight Year

VGP
SLS Theater continued its winning streak in 2020 by receiving three more Halo Awards. This brings St. Luke’s total to 15 of these prestigious, all-state theater awards in the past five years.

The Seven Angels Theater Halo Awards honor the very best high school theater productions in Connecticut. Judges considered productions from more than eighty schools, adjudicating performances from both public and independent schools.

This year’s SLS Theater award winners included:

Best Comedic Female Performance—Allie Vogel as Roberta in Admissions

Best Actor in a Play—Henry Jodka as Charlie in Admissions

Best Run Crew for Admissions—Will Chuhta, Liz Fleischer, Jack Laibe, Aisha Memon, Connor Rosow, Liana Seale, and Jack Silverman

St. Luke’s was the first high school in the country to receive the rights to present the biting satire Admissions, which received rave reviews during its SLS fall run.

Since 2016, St. Luke’s has received 100 Halo Award nominations, including the 18 received this year.

Traditionally, the Halo Awards is celebrated in a grand red carpet ceremony at the Palace Theater in Waterbury. This year, the festivities moved to an online format that included messages from stars of the stage and screen.
