Storm Weekend Recap

Daniel Clarke
There were four St. Luke’s varsity teams in action on Saturday, October 24, when football, boys soccer, and girls soccer competed against Kingswood Oxford School, and volleyball played an intrasquad game.

The Storm volleyball team was scheduled to face KO, but a late cancelation forced them into a battle against each other. Molly Kim ‘21, playing in a new role, excelled in a fun contest for the varsity squad.

Girls soccer took on the Wyverns in West Hartford, where they had a tough test against a team that is celebrating its seniors. The Storm took a little time to adjust to the unfamiliar grass surface but dominated the second half, with great performances from Annika Bonwetsch ‘22 on defense and goalkeepers Ashley Barton ‘22 and Evelyn Boris ‘23.

Storm football was also on the road and played a thrilling 7on7 contest against Kingswood Oxford. Koy Price ‘21 stood out with one touchdown and two interceptions, as well as receiving for 177 yards. Jeremy Reid ‘21 contributed with 78 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The Storm defense had six interceptions. Austin Andersen ‘21, Chris Capone ‘23, and Ethan Righter ‘23 accounted for one interception each.

Boys soccer hosted KO in another excellent game. St. Luke’s competed well against a strong Wyverns team, playing great soccer throughout. The presence of returning captain Jake Kavan ‘21 was felt among the group as they created a number of great scoring opportunities. Nick Rutigliano ‘21, Eli Brody ‘24, and Fritz Laibe ‘22 defended excellently throughout the game.
