Lunch & Lead with SLS Alumnus Harry Galbraith ‘14

S.A.
This week, St. Luke’s Upper School participated in a virtual Lunch & Lead with Harry Galbraith ‘14, a combustion engineer at SpaceX in California and an SLS alum. Galbraith is currently part of the team that is working to make life multi-planetarium, with the goal to go to Mars.

During the conversation, Galbraith shared with students that while successes get the most attention, it’s the failures that teach you the most. SpaceX recently celebrated its 100th successful launch and is the first company to send astronauts to the International Space Station. However, it is through a slew of failures that the company and its employees learn and grow.

Galbraith left our students with some words of advice for when they head off to college, “Really try to take advantage of your first year in college. There is a lot of pressure to figure out what you should major in or what you want to study, and it’s a big decision. Even if you think you have a set path or something you are really passionate about, keep yourself open. Try to take different courses and get a feel for all the different majors.”
