SLS Asst. Athletic Director Gets Vaccine To Crush Covid

Daniel Clarke
St. Luke’s Assistant Athletic Director and Head Athletic Trainer Anna Knechtel was one of the first members of the St. Luke’s community to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.

Knechtel qualified for The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) vaccine in Phase 1a as a Medical First Responder and she was happy to be a part of the CDC’s campaign to #crushCOVID. “This vaccine makes me feel so hopeful. I was thrilled to take this important step in keeping our community safe and feel fortunate to be one of the first to qualify for it.”

Knechtel, who is fondly known by all at St. Luke’s as Miss Anna, was given her first dose of the vaccine at Norwalk hospital on Wednesday, January 13 and will return for her second shot of the Moderna vaccine on Thursday, February 11.

Next Up: St. Luke’s School Nurse Irene Maier is scheduled to get her vaccination on Tuesday, January 19. All St. Luke’s faculty and staff will have the opportunity to receive the vaccine as part of CT’s Phase 1b rollout in the coming weeks.
