Weekly Athletics Roundup

It was another successful week of Storm athletics, as all five varsity teams enjoyed two highly competitive contests each.

Boys basketball traveled to Kingswood Oxford on Saturday, Feb. 27, for a noon tipoff. They followed up that game with another road trip to South Kent on Wednesday, March 3, with senior captain Cole Bryant hot from outside the arc. He was top scorer for the Storm with 22 points, shooting six for nine from deep. 

The team completes its season on Saturday, March 6, with a home game against Greens Farms Academy at noon. Seniors Bryant, Lewis Cropper, and Des Pratt will be recognized before the game.

Girls squash hosted KO on Saturday, Feb. 27, in an entertaining matchup. The team then traveled to Sacred Heart Greenwich on Wednesday, March 6, for its penultimate match of the season. Andrea DiTeodoro ‘23 and senior captains Caroline Pellegrino and Audrey Magnusen produced some fine squash for the Storm.

The squad has its final contest of the season on Saturday, March 6, hosting GFA at 1:30pm. Magnusen and Pellegrino will be honored before the match for all their hard work and dedication to the program.

Girls basketball hosted two home games against KO on Saturday, Feb. 27, and Sacred Heart on Wednesday, March. 6. The Storm continued its impressive form with Brielle Renwick ‘23, Aidan Panian ‘23 and Sarah Lau ‘24 all producing excellent displays for GVBB.

The team finishes up its season on the road at GFA on Saturday, March 6, in a repeat of last year’s FAA tournament final.

Boys squash also hosted KO on Saturday, Feb. 27, before hosting its final home match of the year on Monday, March 1, against Greenwich High School. The Storm honored their four seniors James Kontulis, Liam Patty, Zach Amendola, and Jack Briggs before proceedings got underway against the Cardinals.

Kaan Savasoglu '23, Peter Cioffi '23, Jack Lyons '24, Carter Lightburn '25, and Matthew Seale '23were all in outstanding form and will look to finish strong in the final contest of the year on Saturday, March 6, at GFA.

The St. Luke’s hockey team played its final two games of the season on Monday, March 1, against King School and Wednesday, March 3, against Wooster School. CJ Haley ‘25 scored his first varsity goal in the season finale and seniors Hayden Critchell and Finn Hublitz also scored their first of the season in the same game. Anders Ernberg ‘21 ended the year with another superb performance for the puck squad.
