Spring Sports Get Underway

Daniel Clarke
St. Luke’s spring sports started their preseason training on Monday, March 1. Despite some frigid temperatures, the athletes had a full uninterrupted week of practice.

The baseball and softball teams utilized the indoor batting cages as well as the Class of 2015 and 2018 Fields to get in some great workouts during week one. Boys and girls lacrosse braved the cold weather as they worked hard on the fundamentals of the game and some scrimmage-based drills.

Softball captain Lili Messina '22 is thrilled to be back on the field with her team: “I am super excited to be playing again and we have a great group of girls this year. We have had to wait a long time but we can’t wait to get going. We have had an awesome first week and are all really excited to see what the season brings.”

There was great energy around the Hilltop with student-athletes excited to be playing their chosen sports again, especially after the 2020 season was canceled due to the global pandemic. The four teams will continue to prepare for the start of the season with another full week of practice before Spring Break.

Tryouts for the St. Luke’s golf and tennis teams have also begun, with full team practices starting when we return to on-campus learning after break.
