SLS PA: 9th Annual Book Chat a HUGE success ONLINE!

SS
The St. Luke’s 9th Annual Book Chat was held on Wednesday, March 3. As with most events this year, we had to pivot to a Zoom gathering. This format did not deter our wonderful community!

To help set the scene, prior to our gathering, and transport everyone back to the city of Frankfurt during the summer of 1840, all of our participants were treated to a glass of hot chocolate from famed Italian chocolatier Venchi and the recipe to prepare a truly delicious Italian favorite, Tiramisu. Our esteemed faculty, Susan Doran and Hunter Martin lead a riveting discussion on Ivan Turgenev’s Torrents of Spring. Susan and Hunter strengthened our understanding of Turgenev, his thought-provoking characters and the historical backdrop of the book. We are so glad we had a full-house and that our parent community added so much to the dialogue. It was a great evening to gather together and share in an insightful conversation about one of the great Russian writers of the 19th century and his provocative book. We are already looking forward to next year’s Book Chat!
