Girls Lacrosse Wins Three on the Bounce

Daniel Clarke
St. Luke’s girls varsity lacrosse made it three consecutive wins on Wednesday, May 5, beating King School, 16-5, at Pedrick Stadium.

The Storm had a difficult start to the season, losing its opening four games. They responded with grit and determination and recorded convincing victories over Hamden Hall and Wooster School, before their win over the Vikings.

Ryan Weil ‘21 and Annalise Correia ‘22 put in captains’ performances against King, leading the offensive charge. Molly Kim ‘21, Macy Owsley ‘22, and Natalie Owsley ‘23 continued their impressive form in a dominant display on defense, limiting the Vikings scoring opportunities. Alexa Crawford ‘23 also had a stellar game in goal for the Storm.

Head Coach Kathy Drake is delighted at how her team responded to the early-season losses and proud of how her players bounced back to win three games in a week: “Our coaching staff is thrilled with the way our girls have come together and worked as a team to elevate our play, resulting in three consecutive wins. We have seen huge improvement, both individually and collectively, and the team is really starting to gel as a cohesive unit.”

The Storm hopes to continue its winning streak on Saturday, May 6, when it hosts Rye Country Day School at 3pm. The team will also honor its seniors before the game at 2:45pm.
