Softball Looks To Make it a Perfect 7-0 in FAA

Daniel Clarke
The St. Luke’s Softball Team hopes to finish its Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) League  schedule with a perfect 7-0 record when it travels to Hopkins School for the final game of the league season on Saturday, May 15.

The Storm is 6-0 in FAA play, following wins against Greenwich Country Day School, Greens Farms Academy, Holy Child School, Hamden Hall Country Day School, King School, and Rye Country Day School.

SLS has clinched the regular season title but hopes to complete the FAA season in style with a decisive victory against the Hilltoppers.

Alex Bacher ‘24 has been in scintillating form this season, losing just one game to Marianapolis Prep School early in the season. The freshman will take to the mound again on Saturday and hopes to improve the teams overall record to 10-2.

Dakota Kelly ‘22 has been a force on offense for the Storm, batting in the fourth spot. The junior  has one home run on the season, with 15 hits in 33 at bats.

Another standout this season is newcomer Aurora Levesque ‘24. The freshman stepped up as the team’s catcher, having never played the position before. She has done an outstanding job behind the plate.

Head Coach Elizabeth Joseph has been extremely impressed with the focus and consistency of her team this year: “Everyday, the girls come ready to practice and improve. We pride ourselves in making sure the softball team feels like a family, which has been a very successful approach for us. I am excited to see how this group of girls will continue to grow over the next few years.”

Joseph has also been thrilled with the leadership shown by juniors Andrea DiTeodoro ‘22 and Lili Messina ‘22, who have guided the young squad tremendously well: “Andrea and Lili have been amazing leaders, on and off the field. They have definitely shown the underclassmen what St. Luke’s softball is all about. We are fortunate to have them back again next year.”

With no postseason play this spring, the Storm will complete its season with games against King School on Wednesday, May 19, and Kingswood Oxford on Saturday, May 22.
