Storm Wraps Up Spring Season

Daniel Clarke
Saturday, May 22, the final day of spring athletic contests, will mark the end of a tremendous season for our Storm teams.

Five of the seven varsity spring sports will be in full swing for  another action-packed day for St. Luke’s athletics.

Boys lacrosse gets events underway with an intersquad scrimmage, following the withdrawal of Kingswood Oxford School. The team will honor its senior group of players prior to the 10am start time.

Girls varsity lacrosse makes the trip to KO for a noon start against the Wyverns. Winning six games in a row, the team is on a hot streak and will look to finish the season with another victory. It has been a remarkable turnaround for the Storm, who lost their first four games but recovered to improve to 6-4 as they head into the final game of the year.

Varsity softball also has a noon start at home against Kingswood Oxford. The Storm has enjoyed a terrific season, winning the FAA League Championship, but looks to bounce back from a loss on Thursday, May 19, against King School to finish the season 11-3.

Girls varsity tennis is on the road and faces the Wyverns, with matches scheduled to start at 1pm. GVT has been in fine form all season and will look to improve to 7-2.

A wonderful spring season will be capped off with a baseball doubleheader when St. Luke’s travels to Hamden Hall, with the first of two games scheduled for 1pm. The Storm knows that a win against the Hornets in the first game will clinch the FAA League title. That would complete an incredible year and be the first league title for St. Luke’s baseball since 2006.
