Actor and Set Decorator Chat With Women in Humanities Club

S.A.
This spring, St. Luke’s Women in Humanities Club had two special Zoom sessions with actor Toni Trucks, from the CBS show SEAL Team, and Andrea Ferguson, graphic designer and set decorator for Cobra Kai. Club members Samantha Bauer ‘23 and Abby Thomas '23 share some details about their virtual visits.

Toni Trucks is an actor for film, theater, and TV. She studied musical theatre at the University of Michigan – School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Trucks shared her path to becoming an actor, explained the behind-the-scenes of what it is like to be on a TV show, and spoke about the audition process for a show or movie. Trucks also answered questions about the current show she is on, SEAL Team, and shared some advice for young women as they enter the world.

In addition, the Women in Humanities Club hosted graphic designer and set decorator Andrea Ferguson a few weeks before Truck’s session. Ferguson talked about her journey to becoming a set decorator and shared many stories from different sets she has worked on. She currently works on the Netflix series Cobra Kai and even created one of the series’ most renowned symbols.

The Women in Humanities Club will continue to welcome powerful, successful women to speak with the club. The club also plans to take a trip to New York City to visit fashion designer Karolina Zmarlak, who was the club’s first speaker.
