Familiar Faces in New Roles

W.C.
Three familiar faces in St. Luke's Upper School have new roles on the Hilltop this year.

After a national search, Mary Frederick, better known as Coach Fred, emerged as St. Luke’s top choice for Assistant Head of Upper School. Significant Upper School growth over the last several years, both in the number of students and teachers and in the variety of programming offered, created the need for this new position. For the 2021-2022 school year, Frederick will remain the Upper School Mathematics Department Chair and teach one math class.

Noel Thomas was appointed the Upper School Dean of Students after building a wealth of experience for the position as the Assistant Upper School Dean of Students. As US Dean of Students, Thomas will work closely with students, faculty, and parents to assure a culture of positive student behavior based on personal and community responsibility.

Formerly Upper School Dean of Students, Matt Ward joined the College Counseling team as Assistant Director. In this role, Ward will counsel and support students and families as students search for and apply to colleges. He will also join the team in creating opportunities for everyone in the St. Luke’s community to learn about college, including the application and selection processes.
