St. Luke's Towers Wins PLL Championship
St. Luke’s boys varsity lacrosse Head Coach Andy Towers guided his Premier League Lacrosse (PLL) team, the Chaos Lacrosse Club, to its first PLL Championship on Sunday, Sept. 19.
The Chaos recorded a 14-9 victory over Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club in the final at Audi Field in Washington D.C.
It capped a remarkable playoff run from the number six seed Chaos, who beat the number three seed Archers Lacrosse Club 13-10 in the quarterfinal and the number two seeded Atlas Lacrosse Club 15-9 in the semi-final matchup.
Towers was proud of his team’s playoff run and performance in the championship game: “It feels great to be crowned champions of this league. Our one goal was to win the title, so it’s immensely satisfying for players and coaches to have their sacrifices validated.”
The final was a repeat of the 2020 championship match. However, Towers and his team reversed the outcome to inflict the first playoff defeat on the Whipsnakes since the league formed in 2019.
Towers believes it was the unity within the group that made the difference this year: “With total player buy-in, we peaked at just the right time. We knew we had to play a complete and clean game against a tremendous team, and we did that. Now we just have to go and do it again next year.”
