MS Cross Country Crush FAA Championship Race

Daniel Clarke
The St. Luke’s Middle School cross country team had a magnificent showing at the FAA Championship Race on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at Sherwood Island Park.

In a dominant display, the Storm had runners finish 1-4 and 8-11.

Charles Drapkin ‘28 won the entire race, with Oliver Samardzija ‘26 a close second. In third place was Samuel Turok, the race’s first seventh-grader. Charlie Fitch finished fourth overall in his first race of the season. Aiden Monahan ‘27 took eighth, followed closely by Annabel Drapkin, the first eighth-grade girl. Ethan Dicker finished in 10th place, and Felix DeSantis came in 11th overall.

After the race, the runners enjoyed snacks and watched the award ceremony. Needless to say, SLS received an abundance of hardware.

Middle School Cross Country Coach Graham Foster was beaming with pride: “If you knew how hard everyone worked at practice, you would realize that the awards were well earned. For all the runners moving on to varsity, you are well prepared.  For those returning next fall, we will have fun! Thanks for a great season.”
