Eighth Grade Students Spend the Day in High School

S.A.
On Friday, Dec. 10, St. Luke’s eighth grade students experienced what high school will be like during Upper School Visit Day.

Throughout the morning, students rotated among special twenty-minute classes, led by Upper School teachers in English, history, math, science, world languages, and the visual arts. Each class was designed to showcase the creativity and experience that students can expect in St. Luke’s Upper School.

In between classes, students enjoyed a snack break with the Upper School administrative team: Head of Upper School Liz Perry, Assistant Head of Upper School Mary Frederick, and Upper School Dean of Students Noel Thomas. During the break, the students were able to get to know the Upper School leaders, ask questions, and start to form relationships.

At lunch, the eighth graders spent time with the Class of 2026 Deans, Dave Burnham and Emily Walsh. Following lunch, students attended sessions to learn more about Upper School athletics, performing arts, designLab, and leadership opportunities.

Participating in Upper School Visit Day is an excellent opportunity for Middle School students to experience what the next four years will look and feel like at St. Luke’s. Going above and  beyond to make our students feel comfortable at school — even though they have been here for Middle School — prepares them to thrive and make the most of their time at St. Luke’s.
