NYU Professor Guest Teaches Stats Class

VGP
Last Friday, Corliss Spencer’s Upper School Advanced Statistics students had the opportunity to learn with guest teacher Michael Diamond, a professor at New York University.

The class took a deep dive into an area of study Diamond is passionate about — data visualization. "Defined as the representation of information in the form of a chart, diagram, picture, etc., data visualization was described by Diamond as a powerful tool that “combines information and art” and allows one to tell a "complete story with or from data.”

Students had the chance to ask questions of the NYU professor, who also gave constructive feedback on projects and demonstrated features of the Tableau program.

Spencer reflected, “The students enjoyed the experience and look forward to using Tableau to modify the charts they originally made using Excel.”
