Girls Basketball Wins Sixth Straight FAA Title

The St. Luke’s girls varsity basketball won its sixth straight Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) regular season title on Wednesday, Feb. 9, with a road victory at Rye Country Day School.

With the win at the home of the Wildcats, the Storm clinched the number one seed for the upcoming FAA tournament and moved to 9-0 in league play and an incredible 17-0 overall. 

At Wednesday’s game, St. Luke’s offense was in fine form and scored 90 points, with Mackenzie Nelson ‘23 leading the way with 31 points. Caroline Lau ‘22 contributed 16 for the Storm, and Camdyn Nelson ‘25 added 14.

St. Luke’s will host the number eight seed on Tuesday, Feb. 22, with a potential semifinal on Thursday, Feb.24. The FAA final is set for Saturday, Feb. 26, and will be played at the home of the higher seed.

Head Coach Matt Ward was thrilled with his team’s achievement of winning six in a row: “It is truly remarkable. Our league has improved every year, so this is a great accomplishment and lots of fun for our kids.”

The Storm has three games next week before FAA tournament play starts. The team travels to Millbrook School on Monday, Feb. 14, celebrates its senior class before their home contest against Marianapolis Preparatory School on Thursday, Feb. 17, and then hosts The Taft School on Saturday, Feb. 19.
