Boys Tennis Bounces Back To Beat Mustangs
The St. Luke’s boys varsity tennis team bounced back from a tough defeat at Hopkins School on Tuesday, May 2, to record an excellent win against Millbrook School on Wednesday, May 3.
After losing to the very talented Hopkins team the day before, the Storm traveled to the home of the Mustangs, where they showed grit and determination to secure a 5-2 win.
Todd Cannaliato ‘25 got the Storm off to a great start, winning his number one match 6-0, 6-3. Nate Samelson ‘26 then produced some exquisite tennis as the number three player, winning his match 6-1, 6-0.
The match was tied 2-2 after the singles matches. However, St. Luke’s swept the doubles contests with Max Kavan ‘23 and Sam Heine ‘22 winning 8-3, Philip Etergino ‘23 and Reed Parmelee ‘22 securing an 8-3 victory, and Dylan Barkley ‘25 and Will Mathus ‘24 closing out the match with an 8-4 win.
The victory at Millbrook improved the team’s record to 7-3 for the season, with two regular-season matches left to play next week. The Storm makes the short trip to King School on Tuesday, May 10, before hosting Greenwich Country Day School on Thursday, May 12. The team will honor its senior class before the match against the Tigers on May 12.
