And the Yearbook Goes to…

By: Andrea DiTeodoro ‘22
On Tuesday, May 24, St. Luke’s held its yearbook dedication ceremony, where the yearbook theme and dedicatee were revealed to students, faculty, and staff.

St. Luke’s School 2022 Caduceus yearbook has been dedicated to Peter Valera. Over the past eight years, almost every senior has taken a class with Mr. Valera. Whether it was attending his fifth-grade music class, chanting a rap for “Go Dogs Go,” going to Lake Compounce after a special performance, learning to make music in the lab, or performing for the whole school in Blues Band, Valera’s engaging teaching style is infectious. He provides students with a welcoming environment where they can express their creativity and explore their passions. Valera is not only a teacher but also a mentor, advisor, and, most importantly, a friend to our graduating class. The Class of 2022 cannot thank Mr. Valera enough for the significant impact he has had on their journey here at St. Luke’s.

The St. Luke’s Caduceus displays each member of our community like the stars they are, using photos, write-ups, original artwork, and more from the moment we took off on the first day of school. We hope you enjoy this year’s yearbook, wherein we attempted to capture our community through the theme out of this world! Please watch the video below, which was played at the yearbook dedication ceremony and is about the theme.

St. Luke’s Middle School students also contributed to this year’s yearbook, with efforts led by Middle School yearbook editor Liliana Finn ‘26 and Middle School advisor Jean Myles. At a special meeting on Thursday, May 26, the eighth-grade class dedicated their section of the yearbook in front of the entire Middle School. As Lilianna shared at the Middle School meeting, “We wanted to dedicate our section of the yearbook to a teacher who has made a big impact on our past four years. You can find this teacher singing around the halls, making a massive salad for lunch every day, and hanging around with Mr. Chuhta and Mr. Bucci. Congratulations to St. Luke’s Physical Education Teacher and SLS alum, Mr. Raffaele.”

Yearbooks will be delivered this week and distributed to the community in the coming weeks. Upper School students who have bought a yearbook should watch for a table at lunch to pick up their pre-ordered yearbooks. Middle School students can pick up their yearbooks in Ms. Myles’ classroom. If you have not yet bought a yearbook and would like to, you still can! To place an order, visit the Yearbook Forever website and enter “St. Luke’s School.” Online sales end Monday, May 30. After May 30, you can purchase a yearbook in person by bringing in a check made out to “St. Luke’s School.”

Seniors do not need to order a yearbook, as they will each receive a name-stamped copy during Senior Week.
