St. Luke's Students Meet Peers From Around the World on Zoom to Discuss Ukraine

Beth Yavenditti, Director of Global Education
Ten Middle and Upper School students recently met with students from around the world on Zoom to discuss the ongoing impact of the war in Ukraine and the current refugee crisis. Countries represented at the meeting included Romania, India, Canada, Ukraine, and the United States.

Facilitated by the Global Education Benchmarking Group, this “Student Dialogue” event encouraged students to share experiences about how the war has impacted their communities, both local and national. Students from Ukraine also shared personal stories about the war’s impact on their family and friends. As a group, students discussed their concerns about the war and their efforts to support refugees. The conversation also covered the role of the media in framing how the global community understands and responds to crises.
