A Few of Our Favorite Things . . . An Art Exhibit

Jeorge Yankura, Instructor of Photography and Digital Design
The St. Luke’s Art Department is pleased to announce the opening of a new exhibition in the St. Luke’s Class of 2019 Art Gallery, entitled “A Few of Our Favorite Things . . .” To curate this collection, we asked the St. Luke’s faculty and staff to answer the question: What is your favorite object and why?

The objects and writings in the gallery range from an heirloom wedding ring to a childhood violin to a 2,000-year-old Roman glass vase. To those exploring the exhibit, the items might not be considered particularly valuable from a monetary standpoint.  The real value of these objects lies in what they mean to the people who have chosen to share them.

The stories behind the objects in this collection are why they are so valued and speak to us about what is important: Art is what it means to be human. What is important to us?  What do we appreciate?  These objects and the stories they represent are specific to those sharing them, yet, hopefully, viewers will find their own stories through those shared in this exhibition.

This exhibition will be on display until early December.
