Winter Storm Play-Off Picture

Daniel Clarke
As the busy and productive winter season approaches its end, we have a very exciting week of athletics coming up.

Girls varsity basketball went 9-0 in FAA play to claim the No. 1 seed for the upcoming  Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) tournament. The team will host The Masters School (New York) in the quarterfinal on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 4pm. The semifinal is Thursday, Feb. 23, with the final scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25. St. Luke’s will host all games, if they progress.

Boys varsity basketball finished as the No. 4 seed in the FAA, behind Brunswick School, Greenwich Country Day School, and King School. The Storm hosts Hopkins School in the quarterfinal on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 5:45pm, and will face Brunswick in Greenwich on Thursday, Feb. 23, if they advance.

Varsity ice hockey has made the FAA tournament, but standings are up in the air until the upcoming weekend’s results are in. The Storm plays Hamden Hall on Friday, Feb. 18, in its final regular season game and can finish 9-3 with a win against the Hornets. The other three teams are King School, Rye Country Day School, and Greenwich Country Day. Semifinals will take place at the higher seed’s home rink on Thursday, Feb. 23, with the final at Stamford Twin Rinks on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Our two varsity squash teams round off their respective seasons with a trip to 2023 U.S. High School Squash Championships in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Friday, Feb. 24–Sunday, Feb. 26. All matches will take place at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in the heart of downtown Philadelphia. The draws have not yet taken place, but information about the championships can be found here.
