Announcing the 2023 Artistic Achievement Award Winners

Alumni Office
Congratulations to the 2023 Artistic Achievement Award Co-Winners, Lena Parker-Duncan '10 and William Steinberg '70!

Lena is a Los Angeles based art director & designer at CBS, as well as a freelance photographer. After graduating from St. Luke's, she attended Brown University, where she earned her B.A. in Visual Arts and Egyptology. She began her career at Warner Bros. Entertainment, before moving to work for CBS. She has crafted marketing materials across a variety of design mediums for massive global franchises (NCIS, Star Trek, etc.) and pop culture darlings (Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, etc.) across social, OOH, print, broadcast, cable and OTT platforms and mediums. For a look at some of her award winning projects you can visit her website.

William was the editor of the 1970 yearbook, and personally drew the cover's complex hidden names puzzle. After graduating from St. Luke's, he went on to earn a B.A., B.Sc., and B.Arch from Washington University and McGill University. He spent most of his professional life as an architect, though he began printmaking at Washington University under the instruction of Leslie Laskey, a student of Lazlo Moholy-Nagy of the Bauhaus. Since 1985, his prints have been exhibited nationally and internationally and are included in numerous private collections in North America, Europe, and Japan. He currently prints at the Open Studio in Toronto, Ontario.

Mr. Steinberg also studied sculpture with George Rammell at Capilano University, and now that he has concluded his career in architecture, he crafts sculptures of bronze, steel, and concrete. His first welded pieces grew from his renderings of abandoned trestle towers built by early miners in Pennsylvania. Prof. Rammell gave a fitting description of Mr. Steinberg’s shift from architect to sculptor, saying "[his] new work functions with all the authority of his earlier avocation, but as a sculptor he is now his own client". An exhibition of his sculptures and etchings was recently mounted at the Ferry Building Gallery in West Vancouver. You can view a more complete compliation of his work on his website.

We are thrilled to honor both of these impressive Alumni! We hope you will join us in celebration of their accomplishments at the Alumni Artistic Achievement Awards Ceremony & Reception on March 31, 2023. All are invited to attend this event, please RVSP here.
