Alicia is the Board President of A Better Chance (ABC House) New Canaan, a nonprofit community school program that works with talented students of color to access excellent educational opportunities in high school, college, and beyond. She also serves as a member of the Town of New Canaan’s Health and Human Services Commission. Prior to moving to Connecticut, Alicia was an attorney at O’Melveny & Myers LLP in Los Angeles, where she litigated contract, employment, and intellectual property disputes. She worked pro bono with Teen Court, a diversion and prevention program for first-time juvenile offenders, and with the Family Defense Clinic and Brooklyn Legal Services, working with families involved in the NYC foster care system. She also directed an afterschool and summer program for children living in housing projects in Dorchester, MA. Alicia has been an active volunteer in New Canaan and at St. Luke’s, serving on the West School PTC Board, as a Girl Scout leader, Fresh Air Fund host, and as a SLS room parent and new family mentor. She and her son honor their dear friend, Teddy Balkind, with the #bemoreteddy Day of Service. She is an alumna of Harvard, where she received an AB in Government. Alicia serves on the schools and scholarships committee of the Harvard Club of Fairfield County, and she and her husband also are members of the University President’s Harvard Yard Society. Alicia earned her JD from NYU School of Law, where she was a Dean’s Scholar. Alicia and her husband, Brad, live in New Canaan with their three children, Watson (class of ‘24), Annie (‘26), and William (‘30). They have loved being a part of the St. Luke’s community since 2016.
