Originally from Montreal, Canada, Farhan began his career in the United States as a technology columnist for the New York Post writing about consumer technology at the dawn of the Internet era. He soon moved to California to start his own venture backed start-up, Yack.com, an early search engine for online chats and streaming video. Farhan has also worked as a senior digital product management executive for JP Morgan Chase. He is currently with Mastercard in the same role.
Farhan and his family have been active in Muslim communities in California, New York and Connecticut for more than 20 years. He is a co-founder of both the Bay Area Association of Muslim Lawyers (BAAML) as well as the Muslim Bar Association of New York (MuBANY). Farhan is also the Chairperson of the Connecticut chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), the country’s largest Muslim civil rights organization.
Farhan has a BA in International Relations from the University of Toronto and a Law Degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco. He lives in Norwalk with his wife Moina and their three children Bilal ‘18, Aisha ‘21, and Salman.
