As the 2024-2025 school year came to a close, SLS faculty and staff gathered to recognize their outstanding peers who went above and beyond this school year.
The 2024-2025 award winners include:
Kontulis Family Faculty Chair: Evan Downey, Upper School French Teacher
This is a rotating endowed chair that helps St. Luke’s recognize, retain and inspire top teaching talent. Chairholders are outstanding classroom teachers who inspire both students and faculty alike.
The Tracy B. Duncan Innovation Award: Matt Goodman, Upper School Computer Science & Engineering Teacher
Presented to an innovative St. Luke’s community member who had a significant impact on the student experience and the development of a culture of innovation at St. Luke’s
Dr. Joseph Kidd Excellence in Teaching Award: John Higgins, Upper School Science Teacher
Given to a full-time teacher who exemplifies the ideals of St. Luke’s through excellence in the classroom, service to the entire school community, and dedication to the well-being and growth of St. Luke’s students
Mark C. Davis Award: Katie Boorse, Head of Middle School
Given to a full-time faculty or staff member whose contribution to St. Luke’s far exceeds expectations, thereby enriching the life and effectiveness of the school
Edward Scovner Excellence in Middle School Teaching Award: Mark Chuhta, Director of MS Special Programs, MS Science Teacher
This award goes to a Middle School teacher who inspires students to fulfill their potential, demonstrates a deep commitment to and affection for students, and possesses a distinctive style and approach to teaching. (This award was presented during the Eighth Grade Promotion Ceremony on June 5.)
Retiree: Kate Parker-Burgard, Director of Community Connections, who retired this year after 22 years at SLS, was also recognized. She was celebrated earlier this spring at a special dinner.
