Parlez-Vous Français?

VGP
Ask St. Luke’s Upper School French students the above question and you’ll receive an unequivocal oui! SLS students “parlent” plenty during one-on-one videoconferences with students in French-speaking countries.  This week, the French AP class connected with students from Le Lycée Pardailhan in Auch (just outside of Toulouse). US World Language Chair and French teacher Jon Shee gushed, “It makes me so proud as a teacher seeing our students demonstrate their fluency in French by easily conversing with native speakers. This is the ultimate example of an authentic world language experience.”

The SLS French videoconference program has worked with schools in different countries for almost 5 years and currently has regular video exchanges with students in France and Canada approximately every 1-2 weeks.

As the worldwide population of French speakers is growing dramatically (due mainly to significant growth in Africa) and French is the most-learned second language on the planet after English, our SLS students are preparing themselves well for the future.
