Cross Country Team Impress in FAA Championship Race

The St. Luke’s Cross Country team had an impressive FAA Championship race on Monday with Will Foster ‘17 placing second overall in the boys competition and Claire Wilson ‘18 finishing 4th for girls over the course at Waveny Park, New Canaan.
The Boys team placed 4th overall and the Girls team beat both Rye Country Day and King School to place 6th in the event.
Foster had the second quickest time of the day running the 5K course in 17:21 only to be beat by Hopkins runner Nicholas Burtson. Ian Smith ‘17 (19:12), Chris Walsh ‘20 (19:30), Will Berger ‘19 (19:35) and Jamie Ullman ‘20 (19:55) all ran under twenty minutes to help the Boys team finish behind Brunswick, Hopkins and King. Ben Jackson ‘18 and Jack Thies ‘17 also put in a great effort with times of 20:04 and 21:02
Wilson, clocked an impressive 20:33 and was supported well by Cam Lyman ‘18, Laura Mercedes ‘20, Alex Lemmer ‘17, Alexandra Schwartz ‘18 and Lucia Wiggers ‘18.
Head Coach Corliss Spencer was thrilled with her team and the effort all the runners put in. She said, “The year was a great success. Our numbers are up. We have been injury free. The speed work has really paid off with personal bests at every race. I am excited to see the runners at the New England meet ”
The Cross Country team will wrap up their season with the New England Championship race on 11/12 at Hyde School in Bath, Maine followed by the All-Star meet on November 19 at St. Mark’s school in Southborough, Mass.
