AP Lit Classes Visit Emily Dickinson Exhibit

V. Parker
On February 7, three English AP Literature classes along with teachers Steve Flachsbart, Susan Doran, Tom Owen and Library Director Elizabeth Nelson ventured into Manhattan to visit the "I'm Nobody! Who are you? The Life and Poetry of Emily Dickinson" exhibit at the Morgan Library. The students got to see one of the largest gatherings ever of Dickinson’s relics with everything from her original writings to a lock of her hair. In addition to the exhibit, the group also got a tour of the entire Morgan Library including the once-private study of J.P. Morgan. Doran said, "The students have delved deeply into Dickinson’s poetry and this fine display deepened their appreciation for an extraordinary genius." Flachsbart added, "The docents even made a point of telling us how impressed they were by the St. Luke’s students’ extensive knowledge of Dickinson’s life and poems."

This culturally-rich field trip was topped with a fun lunch at Shake Shack before taking the train back to Connecticut.
