Wonderful Winter Musicals

V. Parker
There was a journey over the rainbow and lots of laughs during St. Luke’s winter musicals The Wizard of Oz and Urinetown. The Upper School first presented the satirical Urinetown. Director of Theatre Arts Jason Peck reflected on this edgy production: “Seeing those moments of discovery in rehearsal and performance where the style ‘clicked’ was so wonderful.  Each performance was better than the last culminating in a magnificent, heart-stopping, belly laughing closing night."

The next weekend was the Middle School’s production of classic The Wizard of Oz. Snowy weather may have pushed the play's start by a day, but the show still went on.  Director Leo Mahler shared, “The cast and crew were all so supportive of their fellow actors and techies. I was so proud of everyone's energy and hard work. The musical is a labor of love, and it's always one of the most rewarding moments of my year to see it come together in front of the audience.”
