St. Luke’s French Student Wins Major Statewide Prize

V. Parker
"Félicitations" to Dominic DeMarco '18 who won the AATF Connecticut (American Association of Teachers of French) Senior Prize competition. The AATF Connecticut Tom Betts Senior Prize competition is a longstanding tradition that is annually promoted to all senior French students throughout the state. This is the second time in three years that a St. Luke's senior has won this prestigious award, with Erik Eveland '16 receiving the prize in 2016.

The competition required two rounds. Competing students submitted a dossier composed of writing samples, an original essay in French, test scores, grades, descriptions of international experiences, a recommendation from a teacher and other pertinent information. Three finalists were selected statewide, and each had a thirty-minute oral panel interview experience in French. In addition to the honor, Dominic will also receive a $750 prize at the AATF Connecticut Cérémonie de Remise des Prix at Hopkins School on May 15.

The St. Luke’s French Program has earned the highest rank for French programs in the country from the American Association of Teachers of French continuously since 2015.
