Parisian Partner School Students Sont Arrivés

V. Parker
From Director of Global Education Beth Yavenditti:

Late Monday evening, 15 students from our French partner school, Saint Michel de Picpus, were excitedly greeted at St. Luke’s by their host families. By the next morning, our French exchange students were back on campus for a busy day shadowing their student hosts and marveling at the size of St. Luke’s. Their school is located in the 12 arrondissement of Paris so seeing fields, open gathering spaces and the woods is quite a change.

Tuesday evening they had a fun welcome dinner at St. Luke’s with their host families and French teachers. World Language Chair Jon Shee and French teacher Evan Downey led a lively cultural trivia game which was entertaining for students and parents alike. During their school days at St. Luke’s, they enjoyed watching the SLSing Off and even trying their hand at squash.

Midweek they ventured into New York City where they visited the Empire State Building and the MoMA (Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art). Next week’s outings include going to Yale University, the Statue of Liberty and joining the St. Luke’s field trip to see The Phantom of the Opera.

St. Luke’s will send seven students to Paris this June where they will experience the la vie Parisienne and enjoy their time visiting and living with their newfound friends.
