Nadira Hira: Take Risks

NBT
Lunch & Lead speaker spotlights the value of the road less traveled...
Author, journalist, and sought after "Millenials" speaker Nadira Hira was on campus this week. Hira had an informal discussion with Upper School students during a Lunch & Lead, and spent time speaking with classes and The Sentinel editorial staff. During her Lunch & Lead, Hira encouraged students to consider riskier paths. For example, choose a start up where you'll play many roles, rather than an established company where your path may already be forged. She also emphasized the importance of face-to-face conversation.  According to Center for Leadership Director Jim Foley, this last point is critical: "She really drove home that getting to know people is at the heart of understanding their point of view and how they work. This is really an undervalued leadership skill."
