On Wednesday, the Class of 2016 had its Senior Seminar sessions. Seniors rotated among three different sessions—Alumni Panel with Myles Gaines '13, Seeley Fancher '14, & Tess Tregellas '15, Personal Finance with Assistant Head of Upper School for Leadership & Innovation Jim Foley and Self-Defense with New Canaan Police Department Officer David Rivera.
Director of Alumni Relations David Hirx found the seniors appreciated having an informative and laid back day after their year of hard work and stressing over college. Olivia Mao ‘16 said, "I found the seminar with Mr. Foley really helpful because you don’t always think about balancing your finances."
The alumni panel was great opportunity for a peer-to-peer discussion. The panel gave insightful feedback about what to expect during the transition to college including some unexpected little tips from Tess Tregellas '15: “You’d be surprised how much you can end up spending on coffee.” and Seely Fancher '14: “I wish I knew how much I’d need a stapler in college.” The returning alumni reflected that it’s the many little things—from alumni panels to dinners with faculty to Meditations—that make St. Luke’s so special. The panel followed up: You’re going to miss St. Luke’s when you’re gone.
