Jon Shee Receives Distinguished Faculty Award

V.Parker
Head of School Mark Davis kicked off the 2018 State of the School with what he described as his favorite tradition—presentation of the Edward B. Blakely Distinguished Faculty Award. Named after the School’s founder, the award was presented to Upper School World Language Chair Jon Shee for exemplifying Mr. Blakely’s founding values of excellence and character.

In presenting the award Mark Davis said: “Jon and his team of teachers have built an exceptional French program that consistently earns the highest rank possible from the American Association of Teachers of French. In 2016, Jon was given the title of Chevalier in the Ordre des Palmes Académiques, a distinguished recognition by the French government for distinction in the promotion of the French language and culture. And, Jon is a trailblazer. The World Language department has pioneered blended and online learning at St. Luke’s. Way ahead of our peer schools. In fact, Jon regularly teaches other teachers to do this at conferences all over the country. Jon is also the finest French teacher I have known in my 37-year career.”

Davis then turned Shee’s attention to the screen behind him where this tribute video was presented.
