Busby and Xia Qualify for Nationals

Daniel Clarke
Congratulations to Mac Busby ‘22 and Ethan Xia ‘23 who qualified for the USRowing Youth National Championships.

Busby and Xia, who row for the Maritime Rowing Club, won gold in the 4+ boat event at the USRowing Northeast Youth Championships in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Saturday, May 15.

The St. Luke’s junior and sophomore were dealt a blow in February when US Rowing announced that they would eliminate all 2021 lightweight competitions due to COVID-19. However, the duo decided to compete against all the heavyweight boats and pulled out a spectacular performance, moving on to nationals.

The USRowing Youth National Championships will be held in June in Sarasota, Florida, where the boys will compete against the top boats from across the country.
