Storm Basketball Completes Double Over GFA

The St. Luke’s girls and boys varsity basketball teams both won their Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) matchups against Greens Farms Academy this week.

SLS girls traveled to the Dragons den on Monday, Jan. 24, and came away with a 64-44 win. The victory moves the Storm to 5-0 in FAA league play and 12-0 overall.

Mackenzie Nelson ‘23 led the scoring with 26 points, Caroline Lau ‘22 added 19, and Aidan Panian ’23 scored a season-high of 10 against a tough GFA team. 

Lau’s 19 points moved her into second place on the school’s all-time scoring list, with a career total of 1,649 points. Sydney Lowery ‘17 still holds the number one spot with an incredible 2,165 points for the Storm.

The St. Luke’s boys team hosted the Dragons on Thursday, Jan. 26, delivering a convincing display inside Carey Gymnasium and eventually winning 72-50.

Ryan Frank ‘22 top scored for the Storm with 17 points, Aren Cummings ‘22 chipped in with 14, and Ethan Crawford ‘23 added 12.

It’s been a good week for SLS boys hoops as the team also beat Hamden Hall on Monday, Jan. 24. Crawford had an outstanding game against the Hornets, scoring 21 points, with Frank adding 15, and Cummings putting up 13 for a 72-50 victory.

Both teams are back in action on Friday, Jan. 28, as the girls team hosts Hamden Hall at 4:15pm, and the boys teams travels to Masters, New York for a 5pm tip off.
