Daniel Clarke
The St. Luke’s varsity softball team won the Fairchester Athletic Association Tournament (FAA) Championship on Wednesday, May 18, with an 8-1 victory over King School.

The Storm continued its remarkable season, moving to 14-0, with another dominant display on the Class of 2018 Field.

SLS raced into a three-run lead in the bottom of the first after Aurora Levesque crushed a home run over center field.

Alex Bacher ‘24 pitched all seven innings and was in fine form again, striking out 18 batters and giving up just one run.

St. Luke’s continued to build on its quick start, piling on runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to lead 6-0. The Storm added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to earn St. Luke’s its sixth FAA tournament title in seven years.

Levesque and Bacher led the St. Luke’s offense with three hits, two runs, and an RBI each. Jessica Hausman ‘22 also had three hits and an RBI, and Dakota Kelly ‘22 had two hits, two runs, and an RBI.

Head Coach Elizabeth Joseph credited her players after the win: “I am extremely proud of this group of girls. Each one of them brings something special to the field every day. Their hard work and dedication have certainly paid off this season.”

St. Luke’s looks to continue its undefeated season in the Western New England Preparatory School Athletic Association semifinal on Saturday, May 21. The Storm will host either Greens Farms Academy or Cheshire Academy at 10am, with the winner advancing to Sunday’s final.
