Middle School Spanish Students Create Videos for Argentinian Students

By: Viviana Silva-Gil, Middle School Spanish Teacher
Students in 8th-grade Spanish class ended the school year with a video project connecting with students at our partner school, St. Martin in the Fields, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This partnership, under the direction of St. Luke’s Director of Global Education Beth Yavenditti, provides students with the opportunity to connect and engage with students from other countries, learn about their culture, and every two years travel to Argentina or welcome Argentinian students to the Hilltop.

With international travel restrictions still in place this year, the students could not travel. Instead, St. Luke’s students created videos featuring what it would be like to visit New York, Connecticut, New Canaan, and St. Luke’s. The students discussed what it means to visit a new place and what they think could be helpful to know in advance of a trip. They researched the information and created informative videos in Spanish that were shared with the students in Argentina.

We hope these videos will help the Argentinian students learn about life at St. Luke’s and get them excited about visiting in the future.
