At the end of April, 30 St. Luke’s Model United Nations team members traveled to Cornell University to compete in a four-day tournament. Led by current Model UN Executive Board member Andrew Parsons ‘23 and incoming Executive Board member Reese Kubick ‘25, our team represented various countries in General Assembly Committees, including the World Health Organization, the Disarmament and International Security Committee, and the World Conference on Women. SLS students also participated in Specialized Committees such as the International Monetary Fund, Fortune 500, and Formula 1.
Given the size and experience of our delegation, we were assigned to multiple, highly sought-after Crisis Committee spots (including historical simulations of the Crimean War and Kennedy’s Cabinet), the Contemporary Committee AFL-NFL, and the fictional simulation Marvel Multiverse (with Andrew Parsons as Iron Man!).
As always, thank you to our chaperones, Dr. Hunter Martin and David Parsons (#Historydepartment!). The Cornell Conference closed our MODEL UN season, and we look forward to celebrating the seniors at our end-of-the-year lunch later this month.
