The St. Luke’s Varsity Tennis Team played its second league match on Friday afternoon, narrowly dropping a 4-3 decision to the defending champion, Greens Farms Academy, to even its league record at 1-1.
St. Luke’s won three of the four singles matches but was swept in the three doubles matches.
Co-captain and #1 Chester Murray remained undefeated after two league matches and a scrimmage against the New Canaan High School, defeating Nick Newhouse 6-3, 6-4. Co-captain Alex Magill, playing #2, is undefeated in his two league matches after having beat GFA’s Jake Sherin 6-4, 6-2. Freshman Roy Skinner, playing #3, has also yet to lose this season, having edged Doug Brown 6-4, 6-3.
In the other singles match, Joe Sciarrino, playing #4, lost 7-5, 6-4 to GFA’s Dan O’Connor.
Costa Kensington and Sam Sheehy, playing #1 doubles, lost a three-setter to Lyndon Ratcliffe and Stefan Norbon 5-7, 6-3, 6-0. Playing at #2 doubles, Jora Dhaliwal and Ethan Pearce lost 6-0, 6-0. Zack Lupica and Kevin Mahoney, playing #3 doubles, lost 6-3, 6-0.
