Tennis - Varsity Boys

The St. Luke’s Varsity Tennis Team lost in its second match of the season on Monday afternoon, falling 5-2 to at Sterling Farms in Stamford. St. Luke’s split the four singles matches before being swept in doubles.


At #1 singles, junior Roy Skinner, charging the net and volleying crisply, beat fellow junior Billy Smithline of KLHT 6-2, 6-2. And freshman Powell Robinson, playing his first singles match of the year at #3, bounced back after losing the first set to defeat sophomore Carter Anatole 1-6, 6-3, 6-4. Sophomore Luke Osherow, at #2 singles, fell 6-0, 7-5 to sophomore Hudson Cole, and freshman Wiley Vehslage, playing #4, fell to sophomore Tyler Murray 6-2, 6-2.

In doubles, the 8th graders Gardner Tregellas and Justin Hart made their debut at #1 singles and lost a tight match to senior Matt Smyth and freshman David Meyer 6-4, 6-4. Junior Ethan Pearce and freshman Jake Hamill, at #2 doubles, took the first set from senior Justin Beitler and Tomas Rosenfeld before falling 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. And in #3 doubles, the St. Luke’s seniors Patrick Shurr and Andrew Binoche lost to senior Balin Sinnott and sophomore Mathias Perfumo 6-4, 6-4.
