Middle School Awards Assembly

Middle School students are recognized for their academic growth, service work and character during this annual event.
On May 25, the Middle School Awards Assembly was part of a full day of celebration that also included MS Field Day and Talent Show. At the assembly, Head of Middle School Gareth Fancher shared remarks and handed out this year’s awards.

The following Middle School awards were presented:

Academic Growth Award—This award recognizes significant growth and academic improvement. It is given to someone who exhibits the characteristics and traits of what it means to be a “student.”
2018 recipient: Katie Stute

Middle School Service Award—Given to a student who consistently demonstrates “the commitment to serve and the confidence to lead.” He/she must demonstrate initiative, ambition, and leadership and go above and beyond with his/her contributions to daily school life.
2018 recipient: Samantha Stevelman

Emil Bucci Character Award—This award is presented to students who consistently live by the tenets of the St. Luke’s Honor Code: honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility. The recipients are friendly, demonstrate a love and concern for others, and inspire their peers through their warmth, humor, and humility. They also put forth noteworthy efforts in their scholarship and activities.
2018 recipients: Nicholas Besgen, Ryan DeFilippo, and Shannon Rust

The Junior Loyalty Cup—Awarded to a student in 7th or 8th grade whose leadership and loyalty to the school demonstrates that he/she is an all-around outstanding member of the Middle School.
2018 recipient: Will Stamoulis

Edward Scovner Excellence in Middle School Teaching Award—The recipient is a Middle School teacher who inspires students to fulfill their potential. This teacher demonstrates deep commitment and affection for students and, most importantly, has a distinctive style and approach to teaching.
2018 recipient: Pat Raffaele
